The Internet has been humming lately. Gerry Hills wrote from St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, where he has lived for the past five years. He notes his is probably the only class member who can see both the United States and Great Britain from his bed when he wakes up (i.e., British Virgin Islands in sight). He and wife Martha are active in community life in Coral Bay (pop. 500), where Gerry serves as vice commodore (on his way up the ladder) for the St. John Yacht Club and Martha is president of the community association. Recently Gerry was appointed by the governor to the Coastal Zone Management Commission, whose mission is to "protect, maintain and preserve" the natural resources of the coastline. Chuck Cramb recently joined Avon as a multitasking executive vice president, finance and technology, and chief financial officer. And will do investor relations, which somehow didn't fit in the title. Chuck had been at Gillette for 35 years, working in successively responsible positions, most recently as senior vice president, finance, and chief financial officer. After Dartmouth Chuck received his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. If you are reading this in February (recall I write this about two months early), still time for the annual ski trip: March 4 through 11 at Telluride. Might have some '67s along as well—Bill White was mentioned. Contact Gerry Bell, Mike Lenahan, Paul Fitzgerald or Pete Fahey if you want to be a walk-on (ski-on?). And finally, surprising news headed my way by snail mail recently: David Peck (yours truly) has been selected to receive the Dartmouth Alumni Award, which will be awarded during Class Officers Weekend in February. Since my first can-didate interview during the fall of 1973,I have done assorted class jobs (20th reunion chair, Alumni Council, secretary) and club jobs across the South Shore, Maine, and Hub Club/Dartmouth Club of Greater Boston. (Note: Clearly incapable of holding a steady job!) I have never needed or sought any limelight (is limelight green?). The reward has been, and always will be, the internal satisfaction of helping Dartmouth in some small way, and working with a terrific set of classmates and fellow alums for this shared goal. I am truly humbled by this recognition, and thank you all. Past winners include John Engelman, Joe Grasso and Mark Waterhouse—and more to come, I predict. I really take this honor as another kudo for the great class of'68. And this class would be greater still if you wrote more often. I always need mail!
