The 45th reunion has ended, quite successfully, and the magical 50th reunion is now our goal. To get us there, healthy and intact, the class has elected at its reunion meeting Rog McArt as president, Mike Murphy as vice president, Vic Rich as secretary and Ivar Jozus as treasurer. In addition, Maynard Wheeler was selected to be reunion chair for our 50th. Pete Bleyler, our outgoing class president, was named as the class representative to the Alumni Council and Tom Conger, after a premature retirement absence of approximately 15 years, was renamed as the editor of the class newsletter.

On another note, Bob Conn, our long-term devoted and involved classmate, was recently selected to receive the Dartmouth Alumni Award. Bob received his award at the 192nd Alumni Council banquet on May 19, and is only the fourth member of our class to receive this prestigious honor. To recite all of his achievements, both on behalf of Dartmouth and our class as well as in the outside world, would require far more space than I am allotted for this entire class article. Suffice it to say that the award was well deserved and the entire award citation can be found on our class Web site.

As most of you are now aware, we have an on- going class project that requires the acquisition of one signed copy of every published book authored or co-authored by a member of our class. As of our 45th reunion date, we had acquired approximately 35 books from 14 different classmates, some classmates having authored or co-authored more than one book. I know that we do not yet have everyone, so I implore you to please get in touch with me or Rob Rosier, who bid on and acquired the rights to these books at our reunion class auction to raise additional monies for class projects. I can be reached by telephone at (212) 297-4812 or by e-mail atvictor.rich@rsmi.com. Bob can be reached by telephone at (973) 226-4907 or by e-mail at rosiermgp@aol.com. Please autograph and address each book to the "Class of 1961." This project is unique, having never been attempted by any class in Dartmouth's history (or so I am told). In fact, no one has been able to tell us of any class in any college or university tha thas attempted and completed such project.

If one read Barron's, the prestigious financial weekly, a few months ago, on pages 31 and 32 there was a major article on the highly successful Kaminsky Team, consisting of Gerry Kaminsky and his two sons, Michael and Gary, along with a dozen other people. The K Team is a 15-person investment team and wealth management group at Neuberger Berman, a subsidiary of Lehman Brothers. Within five years the K Team family has gone from managing approximately $1.5 billion to approximately $11 billion. Gentlemen, we are talking dollars here, not yen! As the late Senator Everett Dirkson once said in public referring to the annual budget, 'A billion [dollars] here and a billion there; after awhile it becomes real money."

Speaking of intellectuals, Mike Kirst, an author of several books and long involved in the educational field, was the commencement speaker at the Stanford University School of Education.

As a final thought, I wanted to say a few words about the near-heroic efforts of Pete Synnott Jr., who not only attended reunion but contributed a great deal to its success. However, I have run out of allotted space, so will have to wait until the next class article.
