Harking back to our 65th reunion in a nice touch of nostalgia Tracey Smith, daughter of "Snuffy" Smith, presented to President Wright her dad's football from the 1940 legendary "Fifth Down" game as a gift to Dartmouth from her family and the class. Snuffy was the team manager and was awarded the ball from the football squad after Cornell forfeited the game to Dartmouth. Two players from the game were present, Stu May and Monty Winship, who gave us a play- by-play account of the game. The ball will be displayed in the gymnasium for all to see.

Ed Stone, the class' racehorse trainer, brought me up to date on the situation with his horse, named in memory of our class treasurer (and schoolmate of Ed's in prep school and Dartmouth), "Unc" Richardson. Stoney expects to bring the horse up north in May to try tracks such as Suffolk Downs in July. Good luck, Unc, we'll be rooting for you.

The new president of 41, Chip Deming, wants to express thanks to the outgoing president, Steve Winship. There are the obvious things, such as his role in creating our great 65th reunion—more than 60 of us—and his meticulous, warm-hearted reporting at functions all year, as well as quieter labors, such as the recruitment of a 20-member executive committee, including Jane Hanks, who is representing our wives and widows. Perhaps most important was Steve's ability to keep in personal touch with each classmate who was making an effort for the College or the class. Steve's contributions are remembered. He has earned a few months' rest before we draft him again.
