I had the honor of attending the December 16 wedding of Patrick Serfass and Jennifer Boggs (Georgetown '00) in Negril, Jamaica. While it was a destination wedding for most of the guests, Patrick and Jen actually live in Jamaica while Jen is working on an agriculture and tourism project for her company, Chemonics Inc. The multi-day event took place at the Rockhouse Hotel, where the entire resort is situated on cliffs overlooking the ocean. Guests enjoyed the days in the sunshine by participating in such activities as jumping and diving off the 30-foot cliffs into the ocean, morning swims to breakfast, snorkeling among the reefs and the consumption of poolside cocktails. Among many family and friends, Patrick and Jen were married overlooking the water and after the ceremony, kicked up their dancing shoes poolside. Dartmouth alumni in attendance were Annie Kneedler, who set the couple up over four years ago and who has just returned stateside after over two years living in Ghana, Africa; Travis Gardner '99 and his wife, Kate, who are living in Richmond, Virginia, with their 1-year-old twin daughters Zoe and Charlotte; and Josh Gallitano '98, who is a lawyer at Goodwin Procter in Boston. Patrick and Jen will be in Jamaica through the spring, when they will return to their home in Washington, D.C. Congratulations to the happy newlyweds!
Erin Miller was married on November 4 in Louisville, Kentucky. "I married a wonderful man named Darren T. Sammons. We met several years ago in law school and danced for fun to 'Lawyers in Love' during the reception. The wedding and reception incorporated Scottish and Irish traditions both in the ceremony itself as well as in the decorations to give a nod to both of our families' heritage. The men wore black watch tartan kilts and entered the location accompanied by a bagpipe, while the women wore beautiful rich burgundy gowns and entered accompanied by a harp. Some of my Phi Tau brothers were also able to make it to the wedding from several states away! Kristin Fitzsimmons '02 and Jeff DuBrule '99 came from California and Cara Kinsey '02 came from Staten Island. They all brought a game of chess' with them, which meant fun was definitely had at the post-reception party! After the wedding Darren and I left the next day for our honeymoon in Ireland. We visited around Dublin, Galway and Ennis and hired a car to drive along the western coast, where we visited the Cliffs of Moher. We also stayed a night in Dromoland Castle and enjoyed complimentary cognac. Everything was right out of a dream and we certainly hope to go back someday."
Sadiq Malik was engaged in early November to his girlfriend Sundas Hashmi (UPenn '05). While Sadiq is living in Boston for his second year at Harvard Business School, Sundas is in New York, working at Barclays. "I met Sundas over two years ago. Her parents live in Lahore, Pakistan, and the proposal had to be done traditionally to make everyone happy. My parents and grandparents went over to her parents' house and formally proposed on my behalf." Continuing the engagement announcements, Jonathan Light was engaged in December to Molly Crall (Duke '03). Jon and Molly met while attending University of Virginia Law School and after graduating in 2006 both moved to Philadelphia and are planning a fall wedding. Congratulations!
Last, but not least, I heard from Lisa Parrington that she is doing well in Manhattan! She graduated from Columbia Law School in May, and after spending the summer studying for the New York and Massachusetts bar exams, Lisa and her boyfriend went on a three-month backpacking trip through southern Africa. "We had the most amazing time and it's been hard to get used to working again! We're living on the Upper East Side and I'm working for a corporate law firm (Wilmer Cutler) in the city."
