If you can believe it, the planning for our 10th (reunion, that is) has begun in earnest. We can use all the help we can get, so if you're interested in lending a hand please shoot Lara Hoffman an e-mail at larakhoffman@yahoo. com. And now, the news:

I'm pleased to report that good friend Stuart Davidson is engaged and scheduled to wed Stacy Patton, cousin of Nevin Patton '97, in September in Mentone, Alabama (almost two years to the day after Stuart met Stacy at Nevin's wedding to beautiful wife Kelly in, you guessed it, Mentone). From their wedding Web site (www.pattonanddavidson.weddings.com), in their own words, here is the story of their engagement: "We went to Jakes in Del Mar for din ner on New Years Eve. After dinner Stuart suggested a walk on the beach. We looked out onto the Pacific and talked about what a good year 2006 had been. Stacy was freezing and wanted to go indoors. Stuart dropped to one knee and presented Stacy with a beautiful ring and 'the question.' The answer was yes and the cold was forgotten." Ah, to be young and in love.

Please join me in welcoming Kevin Arista to the elite ranks of those who have completed a marathon (no, I'm not one of them/you—I just like to be welcoming). On Sunday-June 3, Kevin successfully completed his first marathon in sunny San Diego, California. Kevin was part of a group of a little better than 4,000 Team in Training members who raised $12,000,000 to help find a cure for blood-related cancers. Kevin writes: "For the curious, my official time was 4:20:01.1 felt excellent for the first 21 miles but I eventually met 'the wall' and quickly realized that this was one seriously long run. Overall though, for a 26.2 mile race I have to say it was a lot of fun and being able to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the process made the experience all the more gratifying."

Music department faculty member Bill Summers shared with us news of a recent event held at the City University of New York to celebrate the release of Professor Summers' newly published book,J.B. Sancho, Pioneer Composer ofCalifornia. Juan Bautista Sancho was a Franciscan missionary in Spanish California serving at Mission San Antonio de Pauda during the years 1804-1830. The music he brought to California is the only significant body of music to survive from Palma's historically important Convent of St. Francis or from any other church in this historic capitol of Mallorca. This multidis-ciplinary effort is intended to repatriate this mucis to the Balearic Islands. Among those in attendance to fete Professor Summers were 17 recent Dartmouth graduates representing the classes of 1997-2006, including two members of our class. We were provided with a lovely snapshot of the Dartmouth-laden crowd but, as I've lamented before, we've no way to shoehorn a picture into this format. Instead, here's a list (in no particular order) of the people in the picture: Bret Umlauf, Steve Fox '00, Sarah Ries '04, Jen Nycz '00, Sarah Craft ', Sarah Ball '06, Joe Zenruffinin '06, Meredith Epstein '97, Dan Shaw, Amanda Ameer '04, James Lawrie '00, Andy Pease 'Ol, Kim Coppola '06, Jeff Hafner '02, Zach Vaughan '05, Isaac Kardon '05 and Nate Senge 'O4.

Finally, in case you're planning to submit news via snail mail (like anyone does that anymore) or if you plan to send me a Christmas card this year, please note the new address below.
