Hello '07s! This issue marks the one-year anniversary of the 2007 Class Notes! Just as is the case when first years turn to sophomores, we are no longer the young, hot newbies. The class of 2008 this year will have its own entry, and you can't automatically turn to the back and find our section. Our undesirable position in the Class Notes is probably the only drawback of being one year out of college (I am perhaps looking into this way too much), and I am sure many of you have moved on to become another year wiser.

I was recently at Dartmouth's 2008 Commencement and as I was chatting with other '07s who made it for the celebration I overheard stories of people in our class who have made huge career changes in just this past year. Thankfully, I felt better about my own uncertainties and I thought, why not write an entry on fellow Dartmouth alums who are doing something completely different from what they started to do right after graduation. To start with myself, I was working in San Francisco for a startup this past year, but I recently moved back east to join the New York City Teaching Fellows program. I am really excited to be in the city and I will probably be an annoying tourist for the first few months.

Sadly—for me—some '07s who were in New York are moving out of the city. Debra Liu was in New York, working for Lehman Brothers, but now she will be moving to Boston soon and starting as a research assistant at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Greg LaMontagne, who was also in New York, will be in Dubai in the fall doing consulting.

Dax Tejera moved to Los Angeles this past April. Following graduation last year Dax joined NBC News as one of six news associates. He worked on the network's "Decision 2008" primary coverage from NBC world headquarters in New York through March, when Dax was promoted and assigned to NBC's West Coast operation. There he will produce for all network broadcasts, including NBC Nightly News and The Today Show.

Paul Wright spent this past year in Italy teaching English at a small university. He will be returning to the states to begin his career in music. Som,e '07s took a hiatus from school but they will be continuing their education this coming year. Jesse Shaw worked for Big Brother Big Sister in Orange County and will begin his Ph.D in literature at Duke University. Kevin Garland was also in the Los Angeles area. This fall he will head to Boston College for law school. Kristen Murray worked as a paralegal in New York and will begin a master's program at the London School of Economics. Finally, Natalie Koch spent this past year starting her master's at Harvard; however, she'll be transferring to a program at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

I hope all else is well with you. Please let me know if you're in the city and send me all other updates as well!

Until next time.
