It's almost time for our "surprise" birthday party celebration in Scottsdale, Arizona, from April 30 to May 3. Again, it's a surprise, so don't tell anyone other than the sign-up committee (Len DiSavino, John King, Jeff Conn, Jim Nova and Jay Torok) and then be sure to show up for all or at least part of the weekend. You may be somewhat surprised that you attended, but your classmates will be even more surprised to see you!

Hank Gerfen, the forever secretary of the Tuck '62 class, has had a "little bout with lymphoma." Hank reported that he is now in remission, done with chemo and feeling 100 percent better. On the other hand his wife, Maggie, broke her leg several months ago and immediately went from nurse to patient. I have no doubt that Hank conveyed the same love, care and attention upon Maggie that she undoubtedly conveyed upon him during his time of need. He must have, since she is now back on her feet and "doing fine."

It must be that time of year—hockey time—when I hear regularly from the "Dartmouth Duck," F.J. Eicke, about his beloved Sea Wolves hockey team from Biloxi, Mississippi. I still can't reconcile ice hockey being played in the Deep South.

Now for some updated news on our class' beloved Frost statue, donated to the College seemingly more in spite of than with the assistance of the Colleges powers that be at that time. A new College educational and public relations Web representation of the trees and woods at Dartmouth College, titled "The Dartmouth Class of All Time: The Campus Trees," has one slide (No. 5) dedicated to the woods surrounding the Robert Frost statue. Originally titled "The Wood Around the Robert Frost Statue," the slide title was recently changed to read, "The Wood Around the Class of 1961 Robert Frost Statue." Our thanks for this "modest" revision go out to our class Webmaster, Harris McKee, for achieving this change to reflect appropriate recognition for our class. As Mike Murphy so aptly stated it, "When you've got a tough job to do, get a former [class] valedictorian to do it!"
