Greetings from snowy Lake Tahoe, California. We expanded the number of annual geographic dinners with a successful Washington dinner organized by Dave Aylward and a Boston dinner organized by Mike Maynard. Dallas is the next candidate—contact Mickey Stuart if you are interested.

Nels Armstrong reports that he will be taking advantage of Dartmouth’s early retirement program. We will miss his presence in Hanover.

John Wason had a birthday phone call with one of our more artistic classmates, Jonathan “Jon” Frost, who revealed that he has recently opened his very own art gallery and framing shop in the seacoast town of Rockland, New York. It’s called, appropriately enough, the Jonathan Frost Galleries. Jon is not a real big user of e-mail as yet but for views of his gallery and the art that’s available there, including his own, visit his Web site at www.jonathanfrostgallery.com. John also reported that our Canadian classmate Mark Mazurski is living in the Vancouver area and still working full time for the Canadian government in some capacity dealing with the chemistry of water. He also—and this is the amazing partstill plays competitive hockey at the age of 59. We should all be in such good shape.

Sheldon Perry reports that he is living in the still quiet town of Tamworth, New Hampshire. He continues to be self-employed as a cabinetmaker, providing high-end, custom, residential wood cabinetry in the northeast region. He and Nina will soon be empty-nesters as their daughter graduates from high school this year. Dartmouth is a consideration. Their son has chosen the good life—ski instructing at Keystone, Colorado.

Bobby Schnabel reports that after 30 years at the University of Colorado he decided it was time for a change and a new challenge so he went to the University of Indiana in Bloomington. He is still connected to Boulder since his wife is mainly still there (she has more sense, really doesn’t want to be anywhere else) and their two nominally grown kids are still in Boulder, and so he is back there about once a month.

Bill Steffes sent a note in that he and wife Eileen are both retired (four years ago) and live on a small lake 40 miles northwest of St. Paul, Minnesota. The reference to the ’wich man in Pete Webster’s Association of Alumni update struck a chord with him since he was one of those guys!

Wayne Hobin sent along a note he received from Karl E. Scott saying that he is living in Delray Beach, Florida, after a stint in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where he owned a restaurant. He is in the real estate business, which until recently had been rather good to him!

The Facebook experiment with the class officers was successful enough to continue and expand. We have created a Facebook group for the Dartmouth class of 1971. Have your children explain how to join.

Keep the news coming.
