Lots to report! Becky (Liddicoat) Yamarik wrote that she and her husband, Steve, welcomed their son Sam into the world on September 10, 2008. The family lives in Long Beach, California, and Becky works as an internal medicine hospitalist and palliative care physician at UC Irvine Medical Center. Becky also relayed that Merry Lerner lives in N.Y.C. and recently won an Emmy for her work on the Rachael Ray talk show. And Beth (Cassavell) McGee, who lives in Milton, Massachusetts, gave birth to son Michael a year ago and is due with another baby this April.

Edward Fitzpatrick reports that he married Lauren Mann (Northeastern) on August 2, 2008, in Lexington, Massachusetts. Classmates at the wedding were Aaron Bouplon, Bryson Coles and Mark Fadil and other alums in attendance were Tom Coogan ’93, Josh Hanna ’94, Sam Wilbur ’94, Jack Dwyer ’96 (groomsman), Chris Langan ’96, Marc McDonald ’96, Jim Tuxbury ’97, Lorrin (Higgins) Tuxbury ’98 and Tom McArdle ’03. Many former Big Green runners attended the non-mandatory fresh pond 2.5-mile race in Cambridge the morning of the wedding. Coach Harwick would be happy to know that Dartmouth alums swept the top four places, with Sam Wilbur ’94 kicking home to victory at the fun run. After a Bermuda honeymoon Edward and Lauren are back in Dedham, Massachusetts, where Edward works for Reebok International and Lauren works for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the State House.

I also heard from Brandon Taylor, who is married to Serena Kim (Wellesley ’96) and living in Manhattan Beach, California. They have two sons, Christian, who is 3, and little Hunter, who at the time of Brandon’s e-mail was 1 week old (8 pounds, 12 ounces). He says that life is great on the West Coast during winter but that he really misses Dartmouth and New England during the fall. (That makes two of us!) Brandon works at the Carlyle Group in the Los Angeles office.

Sonali Jasmine Sarma (5 pounds, 14 ounces) was born to Gillian Jacob and her husband, Amit Sarma, on November 26, 2008. The family has moved to Houston, Texas, where Gillian continues to work as an obstetrician/gynecologist.

Rachel Wasserstrom had quite a bit of news. She married Ken Scheer (Penn ’89) in September 2008. Brenda Edison, Claudia Ginsberg, Moriah Shilton, Cari Berlage Lodge, Heather Geisberg Pennington, Alyse Kornfeld Streicher and Melissa Trumbull were all at the wedding and other alumni guests were Andy Karson ’89 and Vince Pennington ’92. Ken and Rachel live in Boston with their cat Sport and both work in hospital administration (at different hospitals).

Rachel also wrote that Alyse Kornfeld Streicher had her second daughter, Maya, in December 2008 and that Claudia Ginsberg had her second, named Benjamin Daniel Jordan, on February 5. And Brenda Edison was recently engaged to Michael Kapner and Melissa Trumbull is engaged to Duncan Mitchell.

For you current and future Oregonians out there: The Dartmouth Alumni Club of Oregon attempted to hold its annual holiday party this past December 21, as Laura Walker Chung took over as host from club president Art LaFrance ’60. The gathering had but one Dartmouth attendee, Natalie Todd-Zebell ’09 (plus her parents, Niki and Paul), as a result of an historic snowstorm dumping close to a foot of snow in the normally rainy city of Portland. Ironically, the party had originally been scheduled for a week earlier, when just a little snow paralyzed parts of the city and kept even former Hanover residents cloistered indoors.
