Jonathan Wolken '71, who helped found Pilobolus despite having no previous dance experience, died June 14 in Manhattan. One of three artistic directors of the innovative company, Wolken (middle, dancing in a 1974 performance of Ocellus) once said, "None of us wanted to go into the corporate world. We created a circus and then ran off and joined it." That circus, according to The Boston Globe, is well-known for its "antic visual wit, unbridled athleticism and periodic lack of clothing." Shortly after Wolken's death, Pilobolus premiered its latest effort, Hapless Hooligan in 'StillMoving! on campus. Photograph by TimMatson
