UPFRONT

Artist Enrique Martínez Celaya is named Roth Distinguished Visiting Scholar.

Starting in September, Cuban-born Martínez Celaya will spend the 10-month fellowship delivering lectures, visiting classes and working in a studio. “Dartmouth is an exciting place to teach, to learn and to work,” says the painter and sculptor, who spent a month on campus in 2014 as a Montgomery Fellow. A Cornell grad, Martinez Celaya also holds a master’s in quantum electronics from the University of California, Berkeley. His work is currently on display in London and Aspen, Colorado, and in the spring Radius Books published a comprehensive monograph of his work, Martinez Celaya: Work and Documents 1990-2015.
