Susanne Mehrer takes charge of Dartmouth’s libraries.

If there’s such a thing as an excited librarian, it’s Mehrer. The new dean of libraries, who started in December, displays a high level of enthusiasm for the job, which she describes as “developing the academic research library in the digital age.” The native German, who brings 20 years of library experience to campus, was most recently deputy librarian at the University of Cambridge in England. She’s eager to dive into everything Dartmouth. Mehrer has already identified the secret sauce that drives all the libraries now under her charge. “The staff here are fantastic,” she says. “They’re the greatest, most valuable resource we have.”
