In this edition we spotlight three of our former class officers who have done a great job but are departing from the executive committee. First up is Jim Latham, who lives in Massachusetts, attended the reunion, and has been in the Alumni Council role for the last several years. At reunion he saw Jay Evans, John Whitmoyer, and Duncan Hughes and was enthused about all the sessions, particularly Dave Shipler’s presentation on the world order. Jim has done a great job as Alumni Council rep and we thank him for his efforts. His wife teaches writing for Boston University, andtheywillbegoingto Santa Fe, New Mexico, shortly to attend a writing workshop. They spend their summers in Massachusetts since they enjoy the ocean. Second to mention is Ray Neff, who completed his role as cosecretary last issue. Ray and I have been doing the DAM columns for the last several years after Jay Evans had this role. Hal Rabner comes on as cosecretary. We much appreciate Ray’s work on our behalf. Ray is busy with caring for his Great Pyrenees, a 120-pound white female who is 91/2 years old. Ray says he takes Annie (Little Orphan Annie) Hope (for good thoughts) for a walk four times a day about a mile each way, so it looks as though everybody gets good exercise. Ray is looking forward to three months in Florida and a month in Savannah, Georgia, in the winter driving down with the big dog on a hammock in the backseat. Sounds like a very special dog. Again, thanks, Ray, for your work. The last one to mention, but not the least, is Mike Parker, who has been memorialist for the class for the last 10 years. I did not want to ask him how many classmates have passed away during his tenure, but it is sizable (more than 100). He has been a busy man. Mike has done a great j ob of finding material on classmates who died, and these obits and tributes are located on our class website. Thank you, Mike, and we will see you at Zoom meetings and reunions.
