Alexander Christie ’32 and Bob Harrison ’32 share a spot on the Senior Fence in 1932. The fence originally was built to keep livestock off the Dartmouth Green. When the College decided to remove it in 1893, students protested, so a portion was preserved. For decades, only seniors were allowed to sit on it, with underclassmen who violated this rule facing consequences, such as being dunked in a nearby watering trough.
