OCTOBER, 1907 James W. Rollins

John Brazer died suddenly of apoplexy in Santa Cruz, Cal., Jan. 11, 1907. The seizure came while he was sitting in a chair at his place of business, reading a newspaper. Mr. Brazer was born in Groton, Mass., Nov. 30, 1825. After graduation he taught for a time in Alabama, but early went to California, and was variously employed as teacher, bookseller, and civil engineer. At Santa Oruz, where he had lived for many years, he had a bookstore, and was postmaster for eight years. He had been successful in business, and was a director of the First National Bank of Santa Oruz. He was never married. He was a lover of nature, and a man of kindly and courteous spirit, always a gentleman.

Secretary, James W. Rollins, 27 School St., Boston, Mass.
