Announcement was made some time ago that in the name of the class of 1859 Charles W. Pickering of Greenland, N. H., had established an annual historical prize of twenty-five dollars, to be awarded to a member of the junior or senior class for the best thesis on a historical subject. The subjects for the present year, recently given out, are:

The Life and Public Services of General Sylvanus Thayer; Changes in the Law of Marriage and Divorce in France since 1789; The Idea of Secession in the United States up to 1830; Slavery Sen. timent in New Hampshire from 1850 to 1860.
