The Morrill Allen Gallagher Memorial Scholarships, awarded annually to two undergraduates of Rhodes Scholarship qualifications, have been granted this year to Charles B. Arthur '34, of Walpole, Mass., and Roald A. Morton '34, of New Rochelle, N. Y. Arthur has been a letterman in hockey and baseball for two years and won his numerals in both sports. He is a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon. Morton has been a varsity letterman in football, hockey, and baseball for the past two years and won freshman numerals in all three sports. He is a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon and Sphinx.

The Justin H. Smith Fund Scholarships, based upon a fund established by bequest of Justin H. Smith '77 of New York, historian and former member of the faculty, have been awarded to Edward B. Hancock '36, of Barre, Mass., Richard J. Hefler '36, of Roslindale, Mass., and Theodore Wachs Jr. '36, of Winnetka, Ill. These scholarships are awarded annually to students "distinguished for proficiency in studies, sound morale and physical health."

Regional scholarships, awarded for a four-year period to outstanding members of the freshman class, have been announced as follows:

The William Pierce Johnson Scholarships for applicants from California have been awarded to Harry V. Bamford, of La Jolla, and Edward B. Petersen, of South Pasadena.

The Charles F. Brooker Fund Scholarships for applicants from Connecticut have been awarded to Robert M. DeVarney, of Ansonia; Culbert McGay Jr., of New Milford; and Stuart Naramore Jr., of Stratford.

The Randolph McNutt Fund Scholar- ship for a student from New York has been awarded to Raymond R. Ratajczak, of Buf- falo.

The Second College Grant Fund Scholarships for applicants from New Hampshire have been awarded to Richard N. Moore, of Peterborough, and Edward D. Wynot, of Dover. These scholarships are based upon funds derived from the proceeds of timber cuttings on the Second College Grant, a tract of land in northeastern New Hampshire given to the College by the State in 1807.
