Dr. James Stephen McLaughlin died January 2 at Westfield, Mass., after a long period of ill health, having been stricken with paralysis a year ago. He'was born in Clinton, Mass., September 3, 1865, being the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. P. J. McLaughlin. He attended the public schools of Clinton and Holy Cross College, and received his medical education in New York and at Dartmouth. In 1893 he located in practice at Westfield, where he was one of the first medical inspectors in the schools and served three years on the board of health. For a long period until his illness he was an active member of the staff of Noble Hospital. He leaves a widow and two young sons.
