HANOVER FORESTRY ASSOCIATION FORMED
May 1912

During the first week in April, Mr. Philip W. Ayres, forester of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, and of the Dartmouth College Grant, delivered a series of lectures in Hanover. As a result, a local Forestry Association was organized. This organization is one of many branch associations of the main society, formed throughout the state. The objects of the local associations are: the extension of local information by literature sent out from the central office; the encouragement of and cooperation in the work of the forest fire warden; the protection of trees along the highway; the consideration of the brown-tail and gypsy moth invasion, and the means to check it; the consideration of forestry bills before the state legislatures; and the extensions of the practice by the towns to hold forests. Professor Person was elected president of the association, and Mr. H. M. Tibbetts, secretary. A membership of nearly one hundred has been secured.
