CONDITIONAL BEQUEST FROM SON OF PRESIDENT SMITH

Albert D. Smith, the second son of Asa Dodge Smith, President of Dartmouth College from 1863 to 1877, died recently in New York. Although not a graduate of Dartmouth, Mr. Smith was always actively interested in the affairs of the College and town. He was a successful woolen commission merchant and left a large estate. 'One of the provisions of the will creates a fund which, under certain conditions, may revert to a group of beneficiaries, of which one is Dartmouth College and another the Hitchcock Memorial Hospital.
