William Josiah Forsaith, for almost forty years a justice of the Boston municipal court until his retirement in October, 1911, died at his home in Brookline, Mass., February 27. He was born in Newport, N. H., April 19, 1836, being the son of Josiah (Dartmouth 1807) and Maria (Southworth) Forsaith. He prepared for college at Kimball Union Academy, and took the first two years of his college course at Amherst. After graduation he studied law in his native town and in Boston, and was admitted to the bar and began practice in 1860. In 1872 he was appointed a special justice of the municipal court, and in the same year was given especial jurisdiction over juvenile offenders. In 1882 he was appointed an associate justice of the court, and from that date devoted his entire time to his judicial duties. October 31, 1865, Judge Forsaith was married to Annie M., daughter of John W. Veazie of Bangor, Me., who died in 1889. A son and two daughters survive their parents.
