The finals of the fifth annual debate in the New Hampshire Inter-scholastic Debating League, conducted under the auspices of the Public Speaking Department of the College, were held in Dartmouth Hall on the evening of May 5. Eight New Hampshire secondary schools entered the competition this year; Pinkerton Academy of Derry, and Portsmouth High School won places in the finals. The question for debate was, "Resolved: That the literacy test for immigrants into the United States embodied in the Dillingham bill should be adopted by Congress." The championship cup was awarded by the judges to the Portsmouth High School team, which supported the affirmative side of the question.
