The legislature, of Pennsylvania has passed a bill to honor the name of Thaddeus Stevens as "father of the public schools' of that state. It provides that the state educational building to be erected in Capitol Park, Harrisburg, shall be known as "The Thaddeus Stevens Educational Memorial." A commission is also created to prepare a brief biography of Mr. Stevens, including the full texts of some of his most famous speeches, for use in the public schools. This biography will be published by the state, and distributed among the schools.
