At a meeting of the faculty on March 27, 1922, a special committee of the faculty appointed to study the question of sabbatical leave presented a report and recommended the adoption of the following general principles. Favorable action was taken by the faculty and concurred in by the Trustees at their meeting of June 19, 1922. The recommendations as adopted follow:

There shall be a standing committee of the faculty, entitled the Committee on Sabbatical Leave. This committee shall consist of three members selected and recommended to the faculty by the Committee on Nominations in accordance with the customary procedure.

The Committee on Sabbatical Leave shall consist of three members, one to be chosen annually to serve for a term of three years. At the expiration of the term of a member, he shall not at that time be eligible for re-election. The committee shall serve for one year from August 1 and shall report to the faculty at times *°. arranged by the Chairman of the Committee with the President.

The Committee on Nominations shall select and recommend to the faculty one member to serve until August 1, 1923; one member to serve until August 1, 1924; and one member to serve until August 1, 1925. Subsequent elections shall be in accordance with the foregoing paragraph.

It shall be the duty of the Committee on Sabbatical Leave:

(1) To consult with the President regarding plans for sabbatical leave submitted by members of the instructing staff wishing to avail themselves of the privilege of such leave.

(2) To recommend to the faculty such changes in the method of administration of the system of sabbatical leave as it may consider desirable.
