Roland E. Stevens was prominently before the people of Vermont as a candidate for United States senator, but for good and sufficient reasons withdrew, and became a worker for one of his opponents, who was afterwards successful.
Arthur G. Bugbee, who has been for nearly fifteen years connected with the Y.M.C.A. of Philadelphia, first as a teacher, then in charge of the education department, received a promotion September 1 to be assistant to the general secretary of the city of Philadelphia. The position is one of great responsibility, and has to do with the membership and contributions for the seven buildings doing Y.M.C.A. work, and for the outing, navy, and railroad departmental work. The Y.M.C.A. membership in this city, which had a falling off after the war, has been increased this year by 2498 members, bringing the total up to 22,152.
Harry J. Brown, Concord, N.H., who has been away from his office on account of illness for about a year, is now in condition to attend to business.
