COACH HAWLEY ATTENDS ANNUAL FOOTBALL DINNER
April 1924

The annual football dinner given by the Athletic Council to members of the football team and all men in college who have won football letters was held in College Hall this year March 9 when Jesse B. Hawley '09 head coach of the team during the past season, attended and spoke to the gathering. Professor James P. Richardson who acted as toastmaster at the dinner presented gold footballs to the 20 men who made up the 1923 team. Short talks were also given by Dr. E. H. Carleton who spoke on "Football Thirty Years Ago," by Captain-elect H. B. Bjorkman '25 and by Manager E. H. Learnard '24. Captain C. G. Aschenbach '23 on behalf of the team accepted the gold footballs presented by Professor Richardson.

Work for the 1924 football season was opened at a meeting in Alumni Gymnasium attended by all men eligible for the team and addressed by E. K. Halls '94, chairman of the Football Rules Committee, Coach Hawley, Professor J. P. Richardson, and C. G. Aschenbach. Aschenbach, who will act as an assistant to Coach Hawley next fall, will be in charge of spring practice.
