The most successful of the New York dinners occurred at the Columbia Club, 4 West 43rd St., the night before the Cornell-Dartmouth smoker. Russ Livermore was host and did the honors handsomely. The following men were present: Wentworth, Comiskey, McCarthy, Fredericks, Nichols, Boyd, Healy, Griffith, Rosza, Davis, Gish, Brownell, Thomas, Daisy, Brown, Burbank, Whit, Lafferty, Rose, Clarke, Smith, Child, Hayes, and Rosenheim. The only business transacted related to the dinner dance for the following evening. At 8:15 all hands adjourned to the Pennsylvania Hotel for the smoker.
Several men from out of New York's alumni showed up at the Cornell game. Al and Mrs. Priddy and Leo Folan from Boston and George W. Adams from Washington were seen by various members of the class.
At the class dinner-dance following the game this party proved beyond all doubt that the class can run a "ladies' night" to perfection: Mr. and Mrs. Rose, Mr. and Mrs. Murdock, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Slattery, Mr. and Mrs. Martin, Dr. Rosza and Miss Livingston, Bob Fredericks and Miss Delanoy, Jack Healy and Miss Barry, Dr. Davis and a young lady whose name was lost in a blast from Vincent Lopez' Orchestra, Mr. and Mrs. Griffith, and Howard Wing.
Howard Wing was just sailing that week for Santa Marta, Colombia, South America, to take up his work with the United Fruit. Howard is taking back with him his wife and a new son.
Jack Slattery is living a 552 East 86th St. He is no longer a sprinter. Advancing years have brought some extra weight.
At the Boston class dinner on October 24, "Otto Grow" of the Boston Herald was unanimously elected an honorary member. The Herald for November 17 shows "Otto" in Hanover for the Big Tenth, with a '15 pipe, and his ancestor, who was Eleazar (Wheelock's companion while the latter's rum held out!
