On January 10 in the first game after the Christmas vacation, Coach Wachter's quintet defeated Yale, its initial league opponent, 23-17, on the Alumni Gymnasium floor. The victory placed it in a tie with Princeton for first honors at that date.

The team play which had characterized the work of the Green team before vacation was not much evidenced. The success came more from the accurate shooting of Captain Goas and Friedman and aggressive defense against the fast Blue forwards. Captain Goas was the outstanding man on the floor, caging four baskets and holding his man scoreless.

Suisman at right forward was the best man on the lighter Eli five and was responsible for 10 of Yale's 17 points.

Coach Wachter started Picken and Friedman in the forward positions, selected Dey as center and gave the defense assignments to Captain Goas and Sailor. He made but one substitution, that of Oliver for Dey.
