Secretary, Hanover, N. H.
"Wee" Kimball has just submitted for publication a short article entitled "The Life of a Class Treasurer." This is not only interesting but it is true. Judge for yourselves: "Having flooded the class with statements of receipts, disbursements, and various kinds of statistics, there seems little left to be said unless it is the Ultimate details of the life of a treasurer. This might be presented in some such way as 'Daily Report of an Inefficient Treasurer!' 7 a.m. Awakes violently, murmuring, '136 paid—114 to go,' this being the summarized result of last evening's study. 9:10 a.m. Received day's mail and discovers two self-addressed envelopes. Registers joy as one $3.00 and one $15.00 check comes to light, the latter especially bringing to mind that signer always was a sympathetic kind of a chap. 10:45 a;m. Completes checking of accounts and turns to business of the day. 11:05 a.m. Second mail comes in. No checks. Notes raining outside, so day is dismal anyway. 12:30 p.m. Wishes some non-paid classmate would drop in, thus offering chance to extract tax and lunch simultaneously. (Recalls successful operaion of this plan on several occasions in past). 12:45-2 :35 p.m. Lunch hour extended while refiguring budget for coming year owing to MAGAZINE having increased cost to $1.85 per subscription. Arrives at certain economies in order to balance budget as follows:
Annual Expenses ALUMNI MAGAZINE (250 at $1.85) $462.50 Class Directory 87.50 All postage, printing, clerical work, and misc. expenses 225.00 TOTAL EXPENSE $775,00 Annual Income 250 taxes at $3.00 $750.00 Interest 25.00 TOTAL INCOME $775.00 2:40 p.m. Third mail arrives with one class letter. Finds MAGAZINE plan con- sidered a good thing but check not inclosed. Somewhat non-plused regarding best come-back to this. Recalls that no tax was collected during year of 10th reunion, so that $6.00 must be collected next year. Wonders whether entire class will claim payment anyway for that year.. Foresees necessity of engaging C.P.A. to prove con- tention. 3:00-5 :00 p.m. Concentrates on insurance busi- ness in effort to make reasonable showing for the day. 9 :00 p.m. Solicits wife's aid in listing names for next appeal. Successful in this solicitation, but later on wife allows treasurer must have poor line of talk or else list would not be so large. 11:10 p.m. Prays for divine assistance next year."
Taxes Collected 1921-22 None ' 1922-23 263 1923-24 240 1924-25 225 (to Jan. 23, 1925) 1925-26 ?
Ben Livingston is back from China and Japan for a few minutes, and starts his New Year right by squaring up all accounts until such time as he will again be back with us. Ben's job takes him to Japan and China quite frequently. He probably is our longest commuter. Incidentally, our class treasurer, "Wee" Kimball, has proved such a good treasurer that he is being drafted by the New York Alumni Association as its next secretary.
Josh Clark has now become general agent of the Boston branch of the Worcester State Mutual Life Assurance Association. Mr. Williams has withdrawn, leaving Josh as boss.
Harry Waterhouse is with L. W. Chandler, wholesale paper broker, at 200 Devonshire Lit., Boston.
The Association of the Dominion of Caiuda has recently elected Bill Hart as secretary.
Correspondence with Mexico City has recently been coming fast and furious. The 1911 delegation there certainly likes to keep in toucn with things American. "Brownie" Wilder says the ALUMNI MAGAZINE is great stuff in that far-away city. He also writes that he sees Henry and Mrs. Smith wheeling their baby girl about the streets, and that he has meant to play golf with "Gabe" Campbell, but adds that you cannot raise a family and mix much golf with it, even though four sounds very much like fore.
Jack Ingersoll and John Pearson have jumped into the political game more or less lately. No, not as office seekers. John Pearson was chairman of the committee that ran Winant's campaign and made him governor of New Hampshire, and Jack is the chairman of the committee arranging for the inaugural ball.
Les Gibson volunteers the information that Rick Castle's address is 809 East 16th Avenue, Denver, Colo.
