The Department of Modern Art has recently acquired a valuable series of reproductions of the most beautiful drawings in the Albertina Gallery in Vienna. The Albertina collection is one of the finest in the world, containing representative examples of the drawings of the greatest masters of all schools of painting.
The collection includes drawings in pencil, silverpoint, chalk and some fine water colors, by masters of the German, Dutch, Flemish, French and Italian schools. The best of these have been reproduced in limited numbers by the Schroll Publishing Company in Vienna. The reproductions are so fine that in the Albertina Gallery they are displayed in place of valuable and perishable originals.
