Foster H. Edwards '25, former Dartmouth varsity pitcher and basketball player, who last year won 20 games for the Providence Baseball team of the Eastern League and was the mainstay of that team in its battle for the leagtte championship pennant, has started the present season auspiciously as a member of the Boston National League team. During the spring training season in the south Edwards attracted attention to himself by twice strikingout the redoubtable "Babe" Ruth in an exhibition game with the New York "Yankees." His next appearance was at Braves Field, Boston, April 14, where in his first real major league contest he won for Boston from Brooklyn by a score of 7 to 3. Edwards' opponent in the pitching box on this occasion was the veteran and brilliant Brooklyn pitcher "Dazzy" Vance. In his second appearance for Boston, against the New York "Giants" in one of the games of Patriot's Day "double-header," Edwards was credited with another winning game.
