Prof. Eric P. Kelly of the English Department received recently the gold service medal conferred upon him by the Polish Government for distinguished humanitarian service while an instructor in- English at the University of Cracow during the year 1925-26. Professor Kelly's service in behalf of the Polish Government began in 1918, when he became a relief worker in the Polish Army, extending his servive in that capacity until 1921, including service in the Bolshevik war in 1920.
Professor Kelly was sent to the University of Cracow in 1925 by the Kosciusko Foundation, where he taught two courses in elementary English and two advanced English courses. Professor Kelly is a graduate of Dartmouth in the class of 1906 and became an instructor in the English Department of the College in 1921. He is now one of the supervising editors of The College.
