The carnival committee will incorporate a new feature this year when it selects the "Queen of the Snows" from the guests gathered for Outdoor Night at Occom Pond on Thursday, February 9. The committee announces that "from the fairest of the beauties will be selected that one who best typifies the atmosphere and spirit of this Dartmouth Carnival of ice and snow. Not only beauty, but the spirit of New Hampshire snows and Hanover winters will grace her personality and costume."
This is the first time that the Outing Club has attempted such a step, although in past years a Carnival queen has been selected from the guests in attendance at the ball.
The men to select the "Queen of Snows will be Professors N. L. Smith, A. W. Frey and Mr. W. H. McCarter.
A feature of the Outing Club's work which is becoming more popular every year is the Mt. Washington trip, which will be run in three different sections this year.
The first trip leaves February 3, and returns February 7 under the leadership of H. A. Buchtel '28. The -second trip leaves February 25 and returns February 29. No leader has been announced as yet. The all-senior trip will be led by D. P. Hatch '28 and leaves March 3, and returns March 8.
Three trips are to be run to the summit, 6,293 feet high, and 25 men will be accommodated on each trip. The trips will all make the ascent via Pinkham Notch and the Carriage Road.
