Dartmouth 41—Huntington-Medford 40

Coach Harvey Cohn's freshman track team nosed out by one point the combined teams of Huntington and Medford in the first indoor track meet of the season held in the Alumni Gymnasium February 25. The final score, was 41 to 40, all the events being well contested.

The outstanding race of the meet was the mile run, in which Bartlett of Huntington, hard pressed by Huckins and Rick of Dartmouth, broke the freshman indoor record, his time being 4 minutes 33 seconds. The former record of 4 minutes 35 2-5 seconds, was made by McConnon '28. The times in the low hurdles and the 60 yard dash, although not breaking college records were exceptionally good, Freeman of Dartmouth doing the low hurdles in 7 3-10 seconds, and Stevens of Dartmouth winning the 60-yard dash in 6 8-10 seconds.

Dartmouth 64—Andover 35

Four meet records were broken and one equalled March 3 when the Dartmouth freshman track team defeated Andover, 64-35, in the Alumni Gymnasium.

Hoffman of Andover, holder of the interscholastic hammer-throwing championship, put the shot 49 feet 9 1-2 inches to surpass the mark of 45 feet 1 1-2 inches set by Moss '28. Rich and Bromberg of the freshman also exceeded the former record with tosses of 48 feet 1-2 inch and 6 feet, respectively. Huckins ran the mile in 4 minutes 34 4-10 seconds; Barres broke the record of E. H. Latham '3O in the 880-yard run, winning in 2 minutes 3-10 seconds; Avery set the fourth meet record by pole vaulting 11 feet 6 inches, surpassing the former one of 10 feet 6 inches made by A. H. Hughes '30. Stevens equalled the former mark of Glendenning and Cooley for the 60-yard dash.

Avery, Andover star, scored 19 points by winning the 220-yard dash, the 60-yard low hurdles, and the pole vault, tying for first place in the high jump, and taking a third in the broad jump.
