JUNE, 1928 Prof. Francis L

As these news items are sent to the press, your class secretary is enjoying himself at the annual meeting in Hanover of the Secretaries' Association, and incidentally seeing how the 1906 group on the faculty is getting on. AH of them whom I have yet encountered appear in fine fettle—Halsey Edgerton, Harold Rugg, Freddie Parker, and Foster Guyer. Arthur Meservey merits the congratulations of the class on his recent promotion to a full professorship in the physics department. Eric Kelly will be constantly before you in the next twelve months, for he is to serve as managing editor of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE during Professor Clark's absence abroad.

It has been a great pleasure to meet again two fathers of 1906 who are honored members of the Secretaries' Association. Harvey Whittemore's father and mother represent the class of 1866, and Bob Adriance's parents that of 1873; all are in excellent health and spirits.

At the dinner tendered to the Secretaries' Association on Friday evening, one of the high spots in the program was the speech young Dan Hatch gave us in behalf of the undergraduates. We were all proud of him. The class will be interested to know, too, that Dan is to enter upon a postgraduate course at Columbia University next fall, with the ultimate aim of becoming a history professor.

Speaking of such things, by the way, Robert Adriance has recently completed his thesis for an A. M. degree at Columbia.

Shorty Neal has made an important change in his business career, and is now engaged in the manufacture of oilless bearings at Saugus, Mass. I hope for more detail soon directly from Shorty.

Mike Edgerton with Mrs. Edgerton is now enjoying a six weeks' tour of England and France. And a roundabout rumor has reached me that Walter Powers also is in Europe. The Perrys are still circumnavigating the globe, and at the present writing Shorty Davis is in England. Thus we travel.
