Carl B. Spaeth '29 of Cleveland, Ohio, was elected to the Rhodes Scholarship for New Hampshire as a result of the examinations held by the Rhodes Scholarship committee of New Hampshire in Hanover, December 8. He was chosen from nine men, five of them seniors at Dartmouth, two students at New Hampshire State, one a student at Yale and one a student at Harvard. Spaeth is the 15th Dartmouth man to be chosen for the New Hampshire Rhodes Scholarship. He will at- tend Oxford for three years, beginning next October, and intends to study foreign inter- national and private law.
The new Rhodes Scholarship man is pres- ident of Palaeopitus, president of the senior class, captain of basketball and past presi- dent of the Green Key. He has maintained a Phi Beta Kappa rank throughout his college career and is doing honors work in Political Science this year. Spaeth is a member of the Psi Upsilon fraternity and of the Sphinx sen- ior society.
The New Hampshire Committee is com- posed of former Rhodes scholars with the exception of the chairman, President Ernest M. Hopkins. The other members of the com- mittee are J. P. Carleton '22 secretary, W. W. Flint 'l2, C. E. Snow 'l2, and Prof. A. B. Meservey 'O6.
