Jigger Merrill, who is with the F. W. Fuller Agency of the Equitable Life Assurance Society of Boston (try to get that on a regularsized check), writes us about several of the boys. We quote his letter in part:
"Howard Boulton writes that he is very busy settling estates from his law office on Main St., Spencer, Mass., in what spare time he has after taking care of David Watson, born December 8, 1928.
"Howard Cole, Bob Proctor, and Dennie Sullivan are lawyers in Boston—all separate companies, however.
"Benny Collins is the main spring in a recently incorporated lumber firm in Boston.
"Of course Bill Cunningham still broadcasts the hot baloney on sports for the Boston Post.
"Maurice Hall is still with Kidder Peabody in Marshfield and Boston, engaged, and maybe even married by now.
"Rock Hayes is assistant sales manager for Paine Whitney, investments, Boston.
"Abe Heller has charge of the Hotel Statler office of Clark, Childs, and Company. Has quite a following, I understand.
"Ray Hinds is accountant for Blake and Vaas, wool house in Boston. They cannot pay for a pound of wool without his O.K.
"Reb Moxon has headquarters in Walpole, Mass., for the Lewis Manufacturing Company.
"Elmer Pilsbury is with New England Confectionery Company, Cambridge, Mass. (Things have moved since we were around. Ed.)
"Cliff Belknap is in the plumbing supplies line, comes to Boston once a week, and yachts. He lives and does business in Hyannis.
"Jack Berry lives in East Milton. He has been topping the list of Frigidaire salesmen, but recent rumor says that he is peddling H. Ford's w.k. product.
"George Bingham runs the Cambridge Rubber Company, Cambridge.
"Walter Cross is lumbering with a firm in Cambridge, but lives in Boston.
"Stan Fitts was seen recently on the way from one of his real estate developments to another.
"Al Googins is with the Home Savings Bank. If they show a good surplus, charge it to Al's system of keeping the books. (Ed. If the Googins show the surplus—yes.)
"Harold Harris is another '19er in the law business.
"Art Havlin, as assistant to the general manager, dispenses light and power for the Edison Electric Illuminating Company of Boston.
"Thayer Kingsbury likes selling securities for Spencer Trask better than being in the wool business for himself.
"Louis Munro, without doubt the most eligible bachelor left in Massachusetts, is with Doremus and Company—in fact he is Doremus and Company in Boston.
"Winthrop Pierce is vice-president of a leather company and getting fat.
"Russ Potter is treasurer of the Boulevard Trust Company in the exclusive (Pooh! we used to be there ourselves. Ed.) Coolidge Corner section.
"Howard Steele is in business for himself as a sales engineer, and delivers the goods too, I am told.
"Jim Stone runs the Independent Nail and Packing Company in Bridgewater, Mass. Lives in Brockton. He makes the nails for your rubber heels and roofing."
Jigger adds in ail obscure P. S. that Mrs. Merrill presented him with a fine daughter January 11, to make a threesome with his two sons. Just an afterthought.
This doesn't fool us a bit. If it were not for a good many hard-working '19 wives keeping up production, we should never hear from anybody. Not that we aren't everlastingly grateful for the notes.
Our tale of woe regarding the Tenth Reunion has borne fruit, and Louis Munro, who is a genius in other ways than remaining a very eligible bachelor, has been appointed czar of the affair. He has more committees than Congress, and things are about to happen.
For those wishing to know how and by whom Louis was appointed, a meeting will be held in Grant's Tomb February 29, at which time this intricate parliamentary procedure will be explained in full.
We, very personally, have made a research for Louis here in New York city, the results of which are tabulated below: Question—Are you going to Hanover in June? Number questioned, three. Answers Yes No You're damn tooting 1 Yes, of course 1 Whoopee 1 No 0 100% 000.00%
Now all we need is 100 good men and more or less true to make similar investigations here and elsewhere. This will give us a good start toward something, won't it? Write me at once.
From now until June read all your direct mail matter. We shall have many things of interest to say. Also give the wife and youngsters fair warning. Nothing will be quite right unless they are there.
