The regular spring meeting of the board of trustees was held in Hanover April 1 and 2. Those in attendance were Pres. Ernest M. Hopkins, Lewis Parkhurst, H. B. Thayer, C. B. Little, F. A. Howland, C. G. Dußois, M. C. Tuttle, E. W. Knight, J. R. McLane, and W. R. Gray. A. 0. Brown and Gov. Charles L. Tobey did not attend. Mr. Brown is spending the early spring months in Florida owing to illness during the winter.
The regular docket of business was taken up by the trustees including the elections, reelections, new appointments and re-appointments to the faiculty. Leaves of absence to faculty members and promotions in grade were made. Increases in salaries were given to several of the instruction corps. The reports of the executive committee and of the committee on the physical development and maintenance of the plant were submitted and discussed. Halsey C. Edgerton, college treasurer, was called into the meeting to submit his report and to discuss the financial policies of the College.
SCHOLARSHIP AID As announced in other articles in this issue of the MAGAZINE the trustees voted to adopt the President's plan for the establishment of Senior Fellowships and to proceed with the erection of a new Tuck School group. After consideration of the report on the scholarship aid system now in effect, as submitted by Prof. Herman Feldman and Prof. Gilbert H. Tapley of the Tuck School, it was voted to have additional copies of the report printed and circulated among the members of the board and to have further investigation made, to be reported upon at the June meeting, toward the end of a possible revision of the scholarship system.
A committee recently appointed by President Hopkins and consisting of Robert C. Strong, chairman, Adelbert Ames, Jr., William H. McCarter, Leslie F. Murch, Max A. Norton, and E. Bradlee Watson, was granted an appropriation of $5OO for the expenses of studying the need for a Student Union building.

Elections to the Dartmouth faculty for the year 1929-1930 were made as follows: Monsieur Denoeu as visiting lecturer in French. Herluf V. Upon the recommendation of the committee advisory to the President it was voted to make the following promotions in faculty grade: Gordon H. Gliddon, now a fellow in the department of Research in Physiological Optics to assistant professor of Physiological Optics in the Medical School. To REVISE ROOM RENTS
The trustees instructed the administration to proceed at once with a revision of room rents in college dormitories. Owing to increased costs of maintenance and operation this readjustment of rental fees will result in increases in many cases. In others there will be a reduction from the rentals now in force.
