Dartmouth Plaque Awarded
June 1929

Dean E. Gordon Bill announces that the Dartmouth Plaque awarded to the secondary school having that delegation in the freshman class with three or more men with the best scholastic average for the first semester has been awarded to the Andover group. This particular award is outstanding in the history of this honor, since it is the first time that any preparatory school has won the award twice, and of even greater importance is the fact that the Andover delegation in the freshman class numbers thirteen men. The plaque has never before been won by any delegation approximating this in size.

The Andover delegation consists of the following men: William Taber Adams of Boston; Francis Brown, Beirut, Syria; Joseph Gibson Byram, Reading, Mass.; Michael Hart Cardozo, New York city; Edmund Garrish Dearborn, Antrim, N. H.; Edgar Clark Dixon, Lowell, Mass.; Daniel Nathan Gage, Hartford, Conn.; Richard Hazen, Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.; Benjamin Dewitt Jeffery, Detroit, Mich.; Elfstrom Victor Frederick Johnson, North Andover, Mass.; Robert Leatherbee Kendal, Summit, N. J.; Robert Allen Keyworth, Gardner, Mass.; and Roland Burett Sundown, Akron, N. Y.

The Evanston Township high school of Evanston, Illinois, and the Horace Mann School of New York City were tied for second place, each of these schools having rather large delegations, Evanston six men and Horace Mann seven. Fourth place went to Boston Latin with a delegation of three men. Northern High of Detroit and Stamford High, Stamford, Connecticut, were tied for fifth place.
