The committees started with a list of some 100 namesof educators from all parts of the country, and patiently began the task of selection. Gradually the listwas culled over, sifted, and shortened up, until onlya few remained. Dr. Chase survived all the cuts.The committees asked educational authorities everywhere what they thought of him and seemed able toget only one kind of reply. He is a man who hasshowed that he can go places and do things with auniversity—a real educator and a real fellow.
