Recent publications

Recent publications of Dr. Waltman Walters '17 are: "The Function of the Liver in Relation to Surgical Procedures" in the July 1931 issue of Annals of Surgery; "Obstructive Jaundice, its Surgical Aspects," and "Inter- mittent Jaundice due to Neuroma of Cystic and Common Bile Ducts" in the June issue of the same magazine. He is also the co-author with Dr. Greene and Dr. Snell of an article in the Journal of Laboratory and Clinical Medicine for May, 1931, "Functional Tests in the Surgical Diagnosis and Treatment of Diseases of the Liver and Bile Ducts."

Fletcher Harper Swift '9B is the author of "Emma Marwedel, 1818-1893, pioneer of the Kindergarten in California." This monograph is reprinted from the University ofCalifornia Publications Educational Series, volume 6, number 3.

"Cases on the Law of Taxation" by John Mac Arthur Maguire and Roswell Magill '16 has just been published by the Commerce Clearing House, Inc.

"Dr. Sperry as we Knew Him" has recently been published in Japan. This book is in two sections, the first in Japanese and the second in English. The editor of the English section is Russell L. Durgin '15. In addition to his work as editor, Mr. Durgin contributed a chapter "Glimpses of a Great Christian Engineer." In the volume also is a tribute by Mr. Durgin given at the memorial service to Dr. Sperry.

Arthur D. Holmes '06 together with Madeleine G. Pigott and David F. Menard are the authors of "The Vitamin Value of Cod Liver Meal" which appears in the July, 1931, issue of the Journal of Nutrition.

Earrar and Rinehart have published "How to be Happy Though Human" by Dr. W. Beran Wolfe '21. There has been deposited in the Dartmouth College Library a manuscript by Dr. Wolfe entitled "The Insurgent Sex."

The latest novel from the pen of Ben Ames Williams '10 is "Pirate's Purchase" published by E. P. Dutton and Company, New York. This book will be reviewed in a later issue of the MAGAZINE.

"Back Fire" a novel by Daniel Chase '14 has been published by Bobbs Merrill & Company, and will be reviewed in a later issue of the MAGAZINE.
