Alumni to the number of approximately 150 gathered in Hanover for the Alumni Carnival February 20, 21, 22 under the auspices of the Dartmouth Outing Club. The entertainments for the week-end included the hockey game which Dartmouth lost to Harvard 2-6, the crucial basketball game involving the league leadership lost to Columbia 32-42 after a furious battle, a freshman track meet with M. I. T., and a fencing meet with Bowdoin—all on Saturday, the opening day of the Carnival. In the evening there was a dinner dance at the Hanover Inn.
The Outing Club conducted a ski-gymkhana at Moose Cabins with 150 winter sports enthusiasts participating, including alumni and their families, faculty, and students, under the leadership of Otto Schniebs, coach of the winter sports team. The Outing Club provided dinners for more than 100 at the Cabins and was forced to turn away 50 students for lack of accommodations.
On Sunday afternoon a Lenten Sunday musicale was presented in Webster Hall by the Department of Music, featuring Miss Florence Mann, piano soloist.
The college ski-jumping championships were postponed from Saturday to Monday on account of high winds. This event, together with exhibition ski-jumping by members of the Norwegian Olympic ski team, took place Monday afternoon. "The Beggar's Opera," with the London cast, was presented in Webster Hall Monday night, under the joint auspices of The Dartmouth Players and the Department of Music.
