Princeton's 40-25 victory over the Dartmouth basketball team on January 21 dropped the Indians temporarily into third place in the Eastern Intercollegiate League standings and marked the end of Hanover's pre-examination schedule of sports. The defeat left the Green five with a .500 average in four league contests, while the Tigers scored their third victory in four games.
The largest crowd of the season packed the west wing of Alumni Gymnasium and saw the Green courtmen smothered under an avalanche of Princeton baskets in the second half. After Dartmouth's one point lead at the outset, the Tigers ran up a 15-9 lead at half-time and then clinched the game with phenomenal shooting from all angles. Captain Stangle and Bob Miller, reserve forward, led the Green scoring with 8 points each.
The hockey game with Yale on January 21 was cancelled because of soft ice, after both teams appeared in the Dartmouth rink in readiness to play. The game scheduled with Yale at New Haven on January 25 was called off because of examinations.
