The prow of an old Dartmouth racing shell was unearthed recently in a store- room of the gymnasium and has been placed in the Trophy Room along with a pair of oars. The prow is believed to be the same one which was salvaged when the Dartmouth boathouse collapsed on January 20, 1877, under the weight of a heavy fall of snow. It stood in the room of John E. Savage 'BO and Dana P. Dame '80 when they roomed in Wentworth Hall during their sophomore year, and for the greater part of the intervening years has been missing. The prow is one of the few mementos of the days when Dartmouth was prominent in intercollegiate crew racing.
