The fitting out of a club room in the gymnasium for graduate players and the formation of a varsity team have helped recently to crystallize the growing popularity of squash as a Dartmouth sport. Hundreds of undergraduates are engaging in recreational and intramural squash, and close to thirty members of the Graduate Club are conducting a spirited challenge tournament during the winter.

The Graduate Club has engaged in two matches thus far, losing to a team of undergraduates, 15 to 5, and to the Manchester Squash Club, 4 to 1. In the latter match, J. P. Carleton '22, former Rhodes scholar, defeated Crawford L. Gilligan, varsity squash and tennis coach, in the No. 1 contest. K. F. Graf '28 and W. E. Stearns '3O were also victors for the Manchester Club. Matches are to be played later with the University Club of Boston and with a team organized at the Harvard Graduate School by Prof. H. F. West.

At the present time the graduate rankings are as follows: Class A—C. L. Gilligan, R. R. Larmon, A. F. Dittmer, T. J. Dent, R. A. Burns, R. A. Lattimore, J. P. Bower, R. K. Irons, H. W. Sampson, J. Harris, S. C. Hayward, A. J. Truxal, C. E. Widmayer; Class B—M. B. Storer, J. Campion, W. A. Eddy, E. H. Carleton, H. W. Cohn, H. L. Hillman, R. J. Delahanty, G. F. Thomas, C. J. Lyon, W. L. Scott, P. C. Woodbridge, C. L. Stone, and E. M. Powers.

A ping-pong tournament is also being conducted in the Graduate Club room at the gymnasium, and the sixth annual bowling tournament is being rolled off two nights each week. Forty-five members, including President Hopkins, are engaged in the latter, while 17 men are ranked in the ping-pong tournament.

The varsity squash team remains undefeated to date. In addition to its 15-5 victory over the graduate players, the Green team defeated the Manchester Squash Club, 3 to 3, and the Dartmouth Club of New York, 6 to o. Ranking members of the varsity team are Arthur D. Noble '34, Newton Center, Mass.; Francis C. Chase '35, West Newton, Mass.; Edwin R. Davis '34, Boston; Robert E. Roundey '35, Douglaston, N. Y.; William C. MacCarty '33, Rochester, Minn.; and Huntington W. Harrison '35, Ridgewood, N. J.
