Clifton E. Blake '24 is the author of a poem Souvenir in the October issue of Driftwind.

The September issue of Current History contains an article The Unhappy G. O. P. by Francis Brown '25.

A New England Boyhood by Alfred M. Hitchcock who received his master's degree from Dartmouth in 1896 has been privately printed by E. V. Mitchell of Hartford, Connecticut. This volume deals with the author's boyhood in New Hampshire.

Avalanche of April by Kimball Flaccus '33 published by Charles. Scribners Sons will be reviewed in a later issue of the MAGAZINE.

Harland F. Manchester '21 who has recently been on a trip to the Canadian Pacific coast is writing a series of articles in the Boston Sunday Herald relating to his experiences. The first of these is entitled Where Posies and Putts are Perpetual which appears in the October 7 issue.

Bird-Notes from Bed Part IV Fall by Mark Emerson '25 appears in the September-October issue of Bird Lore.

Pigott is the author of The Influence of Body Weight and theAdministration of Cod Liver Oil on Industrial Absenteeism, which has been reprinted from the Journal of the AmericanDietetic Association for September, 1934. The Influence of Storate on the Fatty AcidContent of Cod Liver Oil by Mr. Holmes and others is reprinted from Oil and Soap, June, 1934.

The September 27 issue of Public Utilities contains an article Reducing the Expense of Regulation (suggested methods ofavoiding long drawn-out utility rate litigation) by Laurence W. Lougee '29.

George W. Stone Jr. '30 is the author of an article Garrick's Long Lost Alterationof Hamlet reprinted from PMLA (Publication of the Modern Language Association of America), for September.

Harcourt Brace & Company have just published Grammar for Speaking andWriting by Kenneth Beal '99 of the Mechanics Arts High School, Boston. This book is the result of five successive typewritten editions worked over in eight years of classroom experimentation by the author and his students. "This text therefore represents both in subject matter and in presentation a method of teaching grammar that has stood the actual test of student use and criticism." The author, who has been a teacher for 25 years, has succeeded in writing a text which is both simple and comprehensive. The book is divided into 9 chapters treating the following subjects: The Parts of Speech;Grammatical Constructions and Diagrams;Declension; Conjugation of the Verb;Spelling; Phrases; Building Better Sentences; and Punctuation.

The American Journal of Surgery for August contains an article by Dr. Herbert S. Talbot.'25 Acute Suppurative Parotitis;Its Etiology, Pathogenesis, and Treatment.

Edwin B. Dooley '27 is the author of a series of articles What's What in Football which is appearing in the Saturday issues of the New York Sun. The first of these articles appeared in the issue for September 15.

The autumn issue of the Yale Review contains three poems by Robert Frost '96: Moon Compasses; A Missive Missile; After-Flakes.
