By Olive Grace Henderson and Hugh G. Rowell '15, M.D., D. Appleton Century Co.

This book is apparently written for the layman and should become a most useful reference book for all parents and teachers in their endeavors to maintain good and useful eye sight in the children under their care. In fact, many medical men could give much more intelligent advice if they were familiar with some of the points emphasized in this book. The importance of many factors entering into the maintenance of good eye sight is pointed out and as far as our present knowledge goes, good advice is given to correct many of our vices of vision.

In past years refractive corrections have too often been the sole treatment of most of our eye discomforts. The authors have presented the subject in a much broader sense taking into consideration hereditary tendencies, diet and health, light, print, posture, angle of work, refractive and aniseikonia or unequal images—newly discovered eye defect present in quite a percentage of eyes with or without refractive error. The treatment for the prevention of many eye defects should begin in the pre-school age. Examination by doctors alone is not sufficient. Some knowledge on the part of parents and teachers is essential if we are to get the maximum results.

"Good Eyes for Life" with its easily undersood presentation of eye conditions and its sound advice for their care should supply that knowledge.
