The club's program for October was a full one. On Columbus Day week-end, October 12-14, there was a trip to the Ravine Camp of the Alumni Outing Club at Moosilauke. On Sunday, October 21 there was a mixed trip to Mt. Monadnock. The evening of the Harvard game saw a dinner party at the cabin open to all members and their guests.
On October 10 the trustees of the Dartmouth Outing Club of Boston and the old and new officers of the club gathered at the cabin for the annual dinner meeting of the trustees and the induction of the new officers. Dean Neidlinger '23 and Carl F. Woods '04, President of the Alumni Council were the guests of honor. The trustees are Clarence G. McDavitt '00, Charles R. Cabot '12, John R. Burleigh '14, Carl E. Shumway '13, Lloyd D. Brace '25, Richard M. Nichols '26 and Hans Paschen T'28.
The cabin at Groton, only an hour's drive from Boston, is available for feeds and get-togethers of fraternity and class groups, and is increasingly used for such gatherings. At least one fraternity has a feed there each fall, as a regular annual event. Reuning classes have used it as a place to meet to plan their reunions, and the club arranges feeds for each of the last ten classes out of college every fall. Exclusive reservations may be made with the cabin director, Herb McCreery '29, Aspinwall 5960.
The fall season is an ideal one for expeditions to the cabin at Groton, so it is only natural that the log book should indicate large use at this time of year. The fireplaces scattered through the woods are frequently used for family picnics and group outings. Older members find the cabin a pleasant and unique place to entertain their friends with week-night dinners and bridge parties.
The Fall Frolic at Groton promises to become as much of an institution in the club as Old Timer's Day is at Hanover. It's an all-day outdoor affair at the cabin, to be held this year on Sunday, November 4.
