The sincere sympathy of the whole class goes out to Phil Marden on account of the death of his wife, Florence Sherwin Marden, on February 15, after an unusually prolonged and trying illness. They had been married thirty-two years. She had accompanied him in his frequent journeys abroad, about which he has written such delightful books, and they had altogether a rarely congenial life together. Phil wrote the Secretary that after a short cruise in the West Indies he will return to his work April 1.
