HEAR BETTER.
June 1937 E. H. Carleton, M.D.

By Hugh Grant Rowell, M. D.'l5. The Funk & Wagnalls Company, N. Y. 35 cents, p. 83.

Many books have been written on affections of the ear, their treatment and the various aids that can be obtained when such treatment is no longer useful. Most of them are too technical and are of small value except to the otologist.

This small book is couched in language that the layman can understand and accept the advice given. The emphasis put upon prevention is of the utmost importance, for it is a well recognized fact that the treatment of well advanced ear diseases results in many failures. Common colds and the congestive conditions of the upper respiratory tract, due to various diseases, are the cause of a large percent of the impairment of hearing.

The reading of this book is recommended to parents, teachers, swimming in. structors and many M. D.'s.
